"Rock and Roll" was the theme of the first parade in 1997. A dozen boats ranging from an 8 foot life raft to the Tiki Islander competed for prizes which included golf outings, scenic plane rides and charter trips. The first place prize went to Tim Kenney in 'Miss Joan', a 36 foot Trojan. Other winners included Steve and Lynn Thompson's 'bout time', the Tiki Islander and Amanda Baker and friends on Jet Skis. The life raft won the coveted Little Bar award.
In 1998, 'Miss Joan', the life raft crew and the Tiki Islander were all back to defend their titles. The theme was "Hollywood" and first place prize, a 2 night/3 day stay at the Marco Marriott went to Vicki Wood and Mary Miller for their portrayal of 'Mary Poppins'. Other winners included Connie and Ed Fullmer, Peter Holler, Big Petey, Brian Rick & Eric Hart, Eric Bauer and Jay Gray.
Growing in popularity each year, the 1999 parade, with the theme "Mother Goose" attracted over 20 boats. Vicki Wood and Mary Miller chose the theme 'Hickory Dickory Dock' and again captured the first place prize. Second prize went to Carl Bergerson, Big Petey and John Hackman as the butcher the baker and the candlestick maker in an authentic tub found on Cape Romano. Other winners included Eric Bauer, Connie and Ed Fullmer and Judy Huggard. The coveted Little Bar Prize was awarded to Kari Douglas and Charlie Bennett and friends who decorated the unique 'Bear's Den II' to portray a variety of Nursery Rhymes.
"Comic Book Characters" was the theme in 2000. 22 boat's competed. First place went to Blanche Bauer, Jamie Bozicnik, Christina Altman, Jeann Huhn and Dana Matt, all 10 years old and 5th grade students at SeaCrest country day school. Their boat, owned and driven by Margie Fortune and John Hackett, was decorated for the 'Peanuts' comic strip. Jack Miller as Snoopy in a Sopwith Camel took second prize. Batman (Pete Thompson) and Robin (Jeff Thompson) in a bat mobile decorated by John Ritchie won third prize. Connie and Ed Fullmer won fourth prize. John Ritchie (Alley Oop) and his girlfried Ooola(Margie Hart) won fifth prize. Judy Huggard as the Little Mermaid and John Carter's barge tied for sixth place.
In the 2001 parade, 21 boats were decorated to depict TV Shows. Paticipants included Gilligan's Island, Batman, Happy Days, Croc Files, The Love Boat, This Old House, Lawrence Welk Show, Hawaii Five O. First Place honors went to Vicki Wood and Jack Miller as Green Acres. Second place went to John Hackett and crew aboard PT 73 in McHales Navy. Third Place went to John Ritchie, and crew Rita and Margie as the Howdy Doody show.
Music was the theme for the parade in 2002. Vicki Wood and Jack Miller won first place honors for their entry 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight'. Eric Bower and friends won second place with a Christmas theme. John Ritchie's version of the John Phillip Sousa march "The Stars and Stripes Forever" featuring Uncle Sam John Stop and Lady Liberty Pam Stop, won third place. Other winners included John Hacket, Stan Gober, Debbie Pappy, Howard Isaccson, Sandy Bryson and Jared Kelley, Doug & Nicki Davis, and some lovely unidentified girls in bikinis.
Animals was the theme for the parade in 2003. Vicki Wood and Jack Miller won first place (again) for their entry 'Groundhogs and Gophers. Chris from Margood won second place with 'King Thong'. Florida Pests by John Ritchie won third prize.
Sports and Leasure was the theme for the parade in 2004. Tom & Cindy Eiseman & Friends won first place with their their entry 'Chicago Cubs'. John & Lauren Ritchie took second place with 'Wabbit Season'. And Mary Miller came in third with her 'Nascar' racing 'boat/hot rod'.
