Local boaters are making preparations for the Sixteenth annual Mardi Gras-Goodland
boat parade. This year's theme is "The World of Dance". Pick any idea that relates popular dances from the past and present or folk dances
in the US and around the world--anything from the Bristol Stomp to the Moulin Rouge Can Can--and decorate
your crew and boat to depict it.
The emphasis will
be on fun, so extravangance is NOT required. Boats of all shapes and sizes
are welcome! Previous prize winners have included a life raft, jet skis,
fishing and pleasure boats, and the Tiki Islander.
The parade will begin at 2 pm at the Barge Marina, take a turn through
the Goodland Harbor and circumnavigate the island, ending at the Goodland Boat park. There will be a brief mandatory captain's meeting on
the morning of the parade where a $10 registration fee will be collected
and final instructions and numbers will be distributed.
